Hi!
Do you have any plans of making a release of Rybka Aquarium for Mac OS X?
(If not, what are good alternatives?)
Thanks

Fish Tank Mac Os X

Doesn't it run with Darwine? You could try if the Demo runs with it.

Fish Aquarium 3D Screensaver will bring an aquarium to your desktop. Get ready to really relax and unwind from your troubles and problems with this beautiful screensaver. You will be able to see a big 3D aquarium with lots of different colorful fish swimming around gently, while you see the bubbles rising to the top. Fish Tank Screensavers For Mac free download - WinZip Mac, Laser Tank, 3D Fish School Screensaver, and many more programs.

It does work, thanks for the tip!
However it would be nice to have a native os x version, if you ever have plans to do that...
that would be a huge amount of work, everything would have to be rewritten according to the programmers.
However, it should run well with (Dar)wine, it's tested and optimized for it.

Sigh. Why do people never have this complaint about Java?
sure it would be nice, & worth inquiring about, but i dont get this complaint a whole lot either, what with the wine stuff (which ive never used i admit) & boot camp as an option. booting into a clean version of windows must take all of 30 seconds tops, if youre going to do even a few minutes of work thats not too much of a hassle it would seem. it doesnt seem worth the work for programmers to create a port when theres no 'need' to do so (ie mac users can still run aqua & rybka) & its only a matter of conveniencing a very small market. even for games, which is obv a much bigger market, theres almost zero ports even today because anyone w/ a mac simply runs windows for gaming (i assume).
Just for the statistical record, I do not own any windows PC. Maybe the mac market share is not that attractive, but no one can question that the windows market is decreasing and if you prefer to ignore for the 'matter of conveniencing a very small market', maybe some competitor doesn't...
Rybka Aquarium runs on Darwine, and that's very good! But the user interface is not as attractive as in windows. The fonts appear all crappy... :-(
I also have some doubts about the performance in Darwine when compared to a native app. It cannot be the same thing.
Overall its fine that you take the commercial and technical option of not having native support in mac (or 100% portability with Java), but please just don't assume I'm being picky, because I could run windows anyway. I couldn't unless I would want to buy a specific machine for this.

i dont mean that you should feel forced to buy a windows pc, which would be silly. i mean simply that it is very easy to dual boot windows onto a mac, if you need windows for any special purposes (since there is still tons of software that is windows only). nothing prevents a mac from running windows just as well as any PC, it is just PCs which cant run OS X!
So, buying a windows pc would be silly, but buying windows (and put it in dual boot in a mac) wouldn't?
Sure there are tons of software that run on windows only, but every significant piece of software has a mac alternative. Even Microsoft Office has a version for OS X.
hmm, well a lot of people my age would argue that call of duty is the single most significant piece of software on the planet & they dont bother porting it. :D
and no, i dont think paying a hundred bucks or so for windows, which will allow you to access ALL major software, significant or not, would be remotely silly. it would be a very reasonable expense & one i will make first thing when i buy a mac. and as point of fact i would already have snow leopard, if it would install w/out limitation on my PC. why not?
'The fonts appear all crappy'
Look at the Linux thread here, try if my Linux font solves that.
'the performance in Darwine when compared to a native app. It cannot be the same thing.'
The interface may be slightly less resposive on slow systems. Rybka and so on should run with the same speed. Note that Wine is not an emulator.
You could also install Linux if your comp has an intel processor.
